Tele-what?
Dayspring Christian Fellowship’s special needs ministry is called Teleios Kids. This is a Greek word (pronounced TEL-ay-os) which means “perfect and complete, as opposed to partial or limited.” It is the same word used in James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights...”
This is how we feel about our special needs children. They are “perfect gifts” who have no limits when it comes to learning about Jesus! We have carefully developed a room where we will teach them about Jesus, have a snack, and work on crafts each Sunday.
We welcome your child, age 5-12 at our first service at 9:00am or our second service at 10:30am.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why a Special Needs Ministry?
We believe that every child has the capacity to learn about Jesus and His love. The Bible is very clear that churches are to include all people, yet less than 10% of churches have a ministry for those with a disability. Dayspring welcomes all children and adults. At this time, our only formal class is for children; however, we hope to include everyone in a Sunday School class in the future. We welcome your child and your family to experience worship and to learn that EVERY person is special and made in the image of God.
Who can participate?
Any child between the ages of 5 and 12.
How can I enroll my child?
You can sign them up at the classroom prior to the service.
How will I be contacted if there is a problem?
If necessary we will quietly come find you in the service.
Are there going to be opportunities for mainstreaming my child?
Yes—as we get to know your child, we will look for ways to include them in some of the other children’s activities.
Is this just babysitting?
No! We will study one verse a month with a lesson and a craft on that verse every week. We want your child to learn about Christ.
Is training provided for the volunteers?
Yes, every volunteer has gone through training provided by Joni and Friends, an international disability ministry.
Volunteers Needed!
Would you like to be part of the special needs ministry? Maybe you would just like to learn a little more about it. We can provide training and the opportunity to serve.
Donations
Donations for equipment and for resources used in teaching children with disabilities are always appreciated. Donations are accepted in the office and can be designated for “special needs ministry.”
