During a wave of
terrorism in the 1990s, the churches of Peru and throughout Latin America
saw incredible growth. The chaos that surrounded people ignited in them a
desire for something stable, for a peace that transcends all
understanding. To His glory, they found that peace in the Church. Today,
though the churches are full,
congregations in Peru
and surrounding nations are in great need of individuals to encourage and
assist pastors, youth workers, and church leaders in
developing the skills necessary to disciple these believers and build up
Christians who will bring glory to Christ, both in their own country, and
also around the world as they discover their place in God’s Great
Commission. Elliott & Dena Innes are missionaries to Latin America with
Global
Partners/Wesleyan World Missions to assist in this goal.
Elliott Innes
grew up in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. Throughout his life he felt God’s
leading into ministry. As he was preparing for college, God directed
Elliott into missions. In May 2003 he received a B.A. in religion with a
major in global ministries from Bethany Bible College. Elliott has served
short-term in Russia, Albania, and Ukraine and worked two years he as
director of youth ministries at Havelock Wesleyan Church.
Dena was raised in northern Illinois. After attending Illinois State
University for one year, she felt that God was calling her to missions.
God’s call on her life was quickly confirmed through His Word and by
family members and trusted friends. Dena has been involved in short-term
mission trips to Peru and Mexico. She has also served as worship director
for Havelock Wesleyan Church. Dena plans to graduate from Bethany Bible
College in 2007 with a B.A. degree in religion with a major in global
ministries.
Elliott and Dena are currently studying Spanish at The Spanish Language
Institute in San Jose, Costa Rica in order to best be able to communicate
with the churches they will serve in Peru and around Latin America.
